Honestly, just check three things: the band, the cups, and the straps. The band should sit nice and flat across your back, not riding up and not digging in so hard that it leaves red marks. The cups need to lie flat against your chest without gaping at the top or spilling over the sides, and the straps should stay put without you having to constantly tug them back into place.
A T-shirt bra is for staying invisible under tight tops, which means there will just be a smooth finish rather than seam lines. A padded bra, on the other hand, is there to give you a bit of shape and structure without that stiff, fake feeling. One is about disappearing; the other is about adding a little something.
You really need at least two or three good ones in rotation so the elastic gets a break between wears. Most bras will last anywhere from six to twelve months if you treat them reasonably well before they start losing their shape or the elastic gives out.
Hand wash them in cool water instead of throwing them in with the rest of the laundry. Always air dry them; never put them in the dryer. And when you store them, lay them flat or fold them gently rather than just stuffing them into a drawer, or you’ll end up ruining the shape.
